When Matt and I travel, we try to limit our souvenirs to ornaments as we can appreciate them every year and remember our trips as we decorate our tree without the worry of where to store them as they generally take up a lot less space than other possible souveniers.  We try to avoid ornaments that say the name of where we visited; instead we go for something that will help us remember where we were for one reason or another.  Each time we see that ornament, we remember the trip and the fun we had.  We were recently given the amazing opportunity to visit Napa Valley and we found a wonderful home decor shop, ACRES home & garden, in St. Helena.  They had many beautiful items for your home or garden in the shop, but the one thing that caught our eye was a selection of metal bird figures for the garden.  We liked the idea of having a bird as our souvenir ornament as we had seen quite a few hummingbirds on that trip and thought it would be nice to remind ourselves of that.  We settled on the bird pictured below.  This bird figurine was not an ornament – instead it was a figurine with two holes at the bottom to attach it where you wish to display it.  But we strung it up with some twine and hung it on the tree.  If you get the opportunity to travel to Napa Valley, I highly recommend stopping by ACRES home & garden in St. Helena – you may find something you did not realize you were looking for!
